Tough to be Indian test captain?. As soon as India lost the first test (test series India vs England 2024), cricket fans are after the life of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. People who have not even played gully cricket are analyzing the defeat, and have come up with conclusion to let Rohit Sharma go as Indian captain. No Doubt Kohli was a great captain because of his never say die attitude and the energy he brings with him. It does not mean that Rohit does not have that attitude, just that he is not expressive. His stats in test at home are rather impressive to say the least.
At Home he has played 25 matches with 38 inns scored more than 2000 runs, has an Average of above 64. This stat you will consider as brilliant right? What India really missed was Virat Kohli the team player.
Now coming back to the test match that India lost. As Rahul Dravid said “we left 70 to 80 Runs on the park”, he is absolutely right. When Jaiswal and Rohit partnership was going great Rohit’s wicket gave England a sniff, again when they had stitched a good partnership between KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, Shreyas gave it away.
So, if we being fan of Indian Cricket Team, we have to criticize anything and hope for improvement, this right here is the place where they let it slip away. Many of us who know thing or two about pitches, this was a pitch of new ball, since it was a slow pitch as soon as the ball was 40 overs old batting got a lot easier. That is where Ollie Pope capitalized had he not done bazball, England would have not been able to set India this total in such quick time.
Indian test captain toughest job?
And tell me honestly how boring test matches in India have been over last 10 years, India rolls over any team, I mean when England were 163/5 in second innings many of us must have switched off the TV. On the contrary, Hyderabad test on 25th Jan, Crowd during India vs England Test, was well in access 30 thousand. Reason is also quite evident as it was a test with lots of twist and turn. This test match showed why we love test match and why it should be a format worth saving. For test cricket to evolve, we need touring teams to give such results.

And if we are keeping score, I think he is still coming out on top. And being a cricket lover and fan of Indian cricket team, I am most hurt by the fans of these two legends @ImRo45 and @imVkohli who are literally abusing these two legends in the behest of supporting the other one. #ROKO was trending during ICC ODI WORLD CUP 23 for a reason. Both these legends have huge amount of respect for each other.
These haters need to understand them. Rohit clearly mentioned in post-match presentation “young generation should learn from Kohli”.
The Positive to take out from the First test match for our Indian test captain was the fight our lower order showed. It was the attitude which showed we will compete in this 5 test match series between India and England 2024.With 4 prominent members’ missing in the 2nd test match #INDvENG of this series it will be a lot tough for us. Let’s stand Behind our Indian cricket team as well as Indian test Captain. . This team is selected by the Indian team Selectors for a reason lets give them undivided support for this series to each an every player who play in the XI. Then after the series we will come back n see who did good and who did bad? Will that be so hard for us being a cricket lover? Always remember it is a sport one team wins other loses. And we do not loose when we have lost on the field, we really loose it when we stop trying to win, and start fighting each other on social media.
